In April ACT visited Pooneryn, Kilinochchi district to equip 17 schools with essential school books, musical equipment, sports equipment and other teaching aids. During our first visit to the area in February we were able to meet with each of the principals to discuss and identify their immediate needs. All items were negotiated at discounted/bulk rates with as many items as possible being sourced directly from the Jaffna through local distributors. Schools were of mixed ages 8 pre-schools, 5 up to A/Ls and 4 up to O/L. We aim to identify specific needs for each school and donate items so that the children can enjoy better quality reading materials, competitive sports and learn musical instruments.
