October 17th marked a significant day for the students of Poonakery Maha Vidyalaya. With a lapse of many years during the war, we launched the first scout group of 50 boys in the Kilinochci district. It was a proud day for the 50 students who signed up for this programme. They demonstrated good character, good grades & keen interest to be selected into this programme. The programme will be headed by a veteran Scout from Kilinochchi who schooled at Poonakary Maha Vidyalayam and was part of the scouts movement back in 1986.
The kids were so excited to wear their new uniforms and receive scout packs. We firmly believe in widening their opportunities and learning experience. The scouting movement will improve their all round exposure and strive to make them exemplary students. We hope to introduce a similar programme to the Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya and are currently in discussion with the education authorities.
